Artist Statement
I am an investigator and a translator. I am a social psychologist and a performer. I am the ultimate Voyeur. Working with mostly found objects and merging them together to create an installation that most coherently satisfies my concept is how I begin. These concepts are deep routed in me, I have to plunge to retrieve them, they are deep routed in memory and observation. My father being a hoarder of sorts instilled in me the notion of keeping everything, keeping everything and maybe everything will be ok, you’ll have that thing for that one time you might need it, and everything will have been for a reason and you will be in control. My memories act as my tools for discovery and experimentation. They invite me to ask questions of other people, other lives other experiences that might be similar to mine or might have raised a question that I want to investigate through performance, sculpture and video. Through re hashing these experiences and flipping them on their head I reveal to myself a way of seeing that I hadn’t before. I aim to get people to question the norms and concepts I bring to light that seem trivial and standard. To find the unusual and uncomfortable in the ideal.
